30 Nov Keeping an Eye on Anti-Women Legislation
If you’ve been paying attention at all during the past couple of years, you’ve noticed a significant uptick in the proposal and passage of legislation in numerous states that seeks to limit a woman’s reproductive rights. This Ohio bill is especially egregious, threatening to send women to prison if they have an abortion.
If this is an issue you care about, I encourage you to take the following three action steps on a regular basis.
- Keep this site handy. It allows you to easily search for specific types of legislation being considered in any state. From there you can contact the legislators who are in favor of or opposing the bill and express your opinion. As it nears election time, take note of state legislators who are actively anti-women and find ways to support their opponents.
- Follow women’s advocates on social media. These individuals post lots of updates about legislation being considered in any branch of government that poses a threat to women’s rights. A great place to start would be the social media profiles for incoming U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and U.S. Senator Kamala Harris from California.
- Know your own state legislator and state senator. Keep a close watch on what kinds of legislation they propose, support, or oppose. Consider donating money or volunteering time to help elect or retain local legislators who are strong advocates for women’s rights.
Thanks and be well,
