A story features:

A character, what happens to them, actions they take.
Beginning, middle, and end.
Moments with a time and place.
Entertainment, insights, life lessons, etc.
Shared emotional experiences that bond people together.

A narrative is much bigger than a single story. It incorporates a wide range of stories as it:

Connects dots at a higher level, giving meaning to a broader vision.
Examines the world in a manner that can influence a person’s thoughts, meaning, and decision-making.
Unfolds over time with an open-ended conclusion rather than depicting a clear beginning, middle, and end.

Think of narrative as a necklace full of beads…and a story as an individual bead on that necklace.
